When You Think No One is Paying Attention...

On February 10th my friend Dolly Kjera wrote a Letter to the Editor of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner asking that they remove Sarah Palin as an official "News" category in its drop down menu.  The former Alaskan Governor frequents the headlines, but in Dolly's opinion not in s newsworthy sense.  Though she got a lot of comments from those who love/hate her, it seemed as if it was just going to be another letter archived in the paper's history.  However, Dolly showed me a personal note she received from Alaska Representative Scott Kawasaki.  The top portion was the generic text thanking someone for their involvement in policy making decisions.  However on the bottom a handwritten note reads:

Nice job on the letter.  Why does the news continue to follow outrageous people instead of scholars and teachers who make this a better place to live?!  Keep up the writing and keep in touch.

Thank you Scott for recognizing someone I feel is intelligent and brave for expressing her opinion.  Sorry to say the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner has kept Sarah Palin as a category in its "News" drop down menu.
